Assemblyman David Weprin (D – Holliswood, Queens)

David talks about several bills he is sponsoring that involve the Jewish community. Among the measures are mandating kosher and Halal food be offered in NYC public schools for children, discriminating against people who wear religious garb and the adoptees bill of rights. David is now chairman of the Assembly Corrections Committee and we discuss the challenges in the NYS prison system. The current chairman of the Ways & Means Committee, Denny Farrell, is retiring after next year and David is primed for the post based on his experience as chairman of the Finance Committee when he was a member of the NYC Council. There are many more exciting issues in this episode.
